I'm working 9 to 5, what a way to make a living...

You know the old adage... "If you want something done, ask a busy person"...? Well, I'm totally for that, as long as I'm not the busy person!

I've gone back to work after my year off maternity. First day was yesterday. Crazy, but good. Didn't even break my heart to leave my baby with Grandma. Nope. Gets easier with child #2! But, my house has suffered. And man, this heat wave hasn't helped either! I'm just dying, and not wanting to do a thing!!! So, laundry is piling up, as is the dirt on the floor. Plus, I've got a yard sale to organize. Crappy...

Well, gotta go and tidy up something. I dunno, I feel like I do this every hour, and turn around, and it's all messy again! And you know what? It's probably me messing it up again.

ARGH! I need less junk and a larger house!

Thursday Thirteen - Food to try or avoid?

I'm ready for sushi I tell ya. Been thinking about it ever since my trainer mentioned it to me last week. I've tried the supermarket variety at somebody's party, but I can't say that I've been to a real sushi restaurant. It kinda freaks me out, but not really. I mean, I've been eating salted salmon since I was a kid - and yes, it's raw. I don't think that I can make a 13 out of this (although I'll try).

13 odd foods (or food combos).5 that I've tried and 8 I want to try.

1. Salted Salmon sandwiches. Let me tell ya - YUM. If you are of Finnish decent you really know what I'm talking about! They are the first to go at any gathering - and I saw one guy try one, and left the rest on the plate when he didn't like it! A Travesty!!!

2. Pickled Pigs Feet. I don't want to even think about the calorie count on this one - but it was something that my grandmother and I sat around the kitchen counter and ate for a treat! Go figure!

3. Crocodile - okay, maybe alligator, and it was at a large chain restaurant during their Cajun time. They were good.

4. Octopus - okay, so who hasn't had this?

5. Potato Chips and Mayo. My hubby looks at me like I'm nuts. I don't have it often - but I like it!!

6. Mussels. I add this to the list because I've met lots of people who don't even want to try!
7. Escargots. Again, same as 6.
8. Cow's Tongue. My dad's decicacy. Yuck!
-------what I want to try--------

9. Sushi. This isn't odd, but something I want to try.
10. BBQ'ed Bananas. Love BBQ, love bananas. Gotta be a good combo.
11. Haggis - again, not wierd, but I want to try the authentic stuff.

Okay, I'm two away from 13. So, add to my list. What should I try? What should be on my list to try, or even avoid??

Deep Breath...

Okay, I'm just sitting on pins and needles. Don't ask me why, I just AM! Really, it makes no sense, but... I promised my son (age 4) that we would be going to the circus tonight. Man, did his eyes light up. And a few days ago my hubby told me that he would be heading 2 hours out of the city ON CIRCUS DAY to do some on-site work. That really wouldn't be so bad, but did I mention that we are a 1 car family???

So, I'm just freaking out, hoping that my hubby can make it in time for the circus. As a backup plan I picked up an extra adult ticket (buy 1 get 1 free, and I had to pick up 3 anyway) This way Mummi (Finn word for Grandma) can come along to, and if necessary, drive us there.

So, backup plan in place, no problems right??? Well, yes, and no. Whenever I do something like this, SOMETHING backfires on me. So, it's raining, and we can't walk there (although it's close enough, but just too far for rain + little boy + crazy drivers . So, now I'm flippin, hoping that it all works out. Tickets in purse, camera by the door, car seats from wonderful sister about to be delivered... it should go smoothly. Okay Murphy (Murphy's Law), work with me, not against!

Here's hoping it's a good circus, not too expensive, and the weekend works out. I'll relax when it's all over!

For those Canuks out there - have a good weekend.
For Kris - CONGRATULATIONS!!!
For Hubby - get home soon!

Has it been that long??

Okay, I took a few days off, but who knew that it would be over a week! Ack, I'm so sorry. I'm sure nobody has checked my blog.. everyone thinks I'm dead!

Well, I'm not, I'm here... extremely stressed out, but here. I have nothing major to report, life is bobbing along. I'm counting the days before I have to go back to work. (13 days) I know, it's only part-time, but it just means that the crazyness will start again. huh... guess my year off is over. *sniff sniff*

I do have a funny story to mention about Mother's Day dinner the other night... My mother-in-law commented that I looked thinner. I said.. "yep, lost 10 pounds!

(Okay, an aside. Why wouldn't have the truth - 8 pounds been enough. Stupid, yet true, answer - 10 pounds sounds better and is something you can shrug off. 8 pounds means that you've been counting every step of the way... and my mother-in-law is all about the "show")

So, anyway, I lied and said 10 pounds. But, guess what??? It's TRUE! I lost those 2 extra pounds and lost 10 now total!!! Yippee!! It's only taken 2 months and lots of work, but I'm down 10 pounds of fat, and probably up quite a bit of muscle! I'm so proud of me.

Now, I have to work towards my next milestone - 20 pounds! Slowly. I don't care if it takes another 2 months. I'm stickin to it. And, really I'm not changing anything that I can't keep up with. Working out, changing the food I eat, and getting the extra walk or somethin in when I can. Plus, I drink lots of water. I think that's really the key.

Newly found yummy but good for you item - Crystal Light Singles. Okay, so I can't put a whole one in my water bottle - but then they last longer! But still, better than normal water when you want a change.

Well, I gotta go. That's enough babblin.
Have a good one. Hope everyone has a good week. Take care of you!

Wasn't that a party....?

Be ready... are you ready..?? It's Kris' Birthday! Saturday night may be alright for fight'in, but I'd rather have a night on the town!!! Yep, that's right, I've decided to fill my already crazy weekend with yet another gathering to put together! Well, what are friends for? It's not all that bad, kids party for my son from 11-1pm, then dinner and party at 5:15. Thank the lord it won't all be happening at my house!

So, we are off to eat and play. I'm not expecting hoards of people, but at least a few. Plus, then we are off to party at the local pub. I'll embarass Kris just enough to annoy her, but not too much! Maybe we'll call upon that bartender at the Pub? Huh Kris?? Gotta find that girl a man, and I'll do my damdest to help out. After all... I did say that a relationship was going to show up in 2006, right? Well, gotta do my part.

Ciao for now

But Cows Like It Too!!!

For all you parents out there, have you ever noticed that you pass along those sayings to your kids? I mean, think about it. The phrases and words that you say, have picked up along the road of life, you are passing them along to people who have no idea what they mean. Currently my 4yr-old son starts
"Hey!"
"Hay is for horses," replies my hubby
"BUT COWS LIKE IT TOO!!!" yells my son.

Does he know what he is saying? Probably not. He just knows that it gets a chuckle from his parents.

I'm racking my brain, thinking of more, but right now I just can't think of any. One of these Thursdays, I'll compile them on a Thursday Thirteen.

Anyway, I'm tired. Heading to bed, and waking up at the "buttcrack of dawn" to steal a phrase from Kris.

By the way, if you find yourself at Kris's page, say hello, and Happy Birthday. I'm taking the girly out for a bite and a pint on Saturday. (Monday, the actual birth-day is pretty slow up here in the boonies). It's funny how much some people know about you. Kris could probably notice my alter ego popping out in that phrase. Well, don't worry Kris, it won't be that kind of bite. The vampire in me is now strictly contained in the literature I read!
